SynopsisShould you be out on London’s Hampstead Heath you might encounter a family of English Springer Spaniels, going for a walk with their ‘She’, as they call their mistress. This is the story about them and the rest of their family; of how they used a primeval method of communication, known these days as Puppyline. The eight main characters, puppies from the same litter, born in Hampstead, but now scattered around the country, told the story to the author one Christmas Eve. On that magic night, it is said, all domestic animals have, for a short time, the power of human speech. Their names are George (brown and white, living in Hagley near Birmingham), Nicky and Peter (black and white, living near Tewkesbury) Sidney (black and white, living in Gloucestershire), Angel (brown and white, living in Witney near Oxford), Joseph (black and white, living in Tring in Hertfordshire) and Orlando (black and white, living near Leominster in Herefordshire).
