SynopsisThe private jet of United States Senator Irwin Rubin mysteriously explodes shortly after takeoff killing the Senator and all on board. After the funeral, the Senator’s estranged son, David, is contacted by Harry Wallach, the Senator’s lawyer, and given a sealed letter from his father. Before he can read it, David is mugged. There is a struggle in which David is knocked unconscious. The letter is stolen, except for a fragment which contains the name of David’s fiancée, a girl who has died in a car crash the year before. The reference to his fiancée draws David into an investigation of the events of the plane crash and the stolen letter. With the aid of Wallach, David follows a trail of clues to London where he is contacted by beautiful Russian spy Varda Levin, who tells him that the Senator was her partner in an undercover operation. Varda asks David to replace his father and help find the facts and perhaps the people behind his father’s death. The events which follow involve David in one of the most bizarre espionage cases of the nuclear age.
