Ian Lumley was born in 1948 in the North West of England and currently lives in the Midlands. Married with one teenage son, Ian started writing seriously in 1997.

Over the next few years he had a series of articles and short stories published in a variety of magazines. Some time later, the opportunity to write 'Covert' presented itself and Ian spent eighteen months researching and writing this classic spy story.

In 2003, he was shortlisted in a UK national TV short story competition and made the last twelve from 17,500 entrants.

He has spent the last two years writing TV screenplays and is currently writing a novel based upon the life story of a World War One hero.
