Janet was born on the 16th of October 1964 in Chesterfield, Derbyshire.
She has been inspired to write poetry and prose from the age of
six, when she penned a poem about the experience of seeing a dead
bird lying on the pavement.
She has had many poems published in Small Press magazines, including
a Staple Special entitled, 'Lawrence and The Real England' and 'Poetry
Nottingham International'. She has won minor prizes in poetry competitions,
both national and international in recent years.
Janet writes short stories, novelettes and plays for children,
as well as poems and stories in this genre, and feels the area of
children's writing is where she is most comfortable. Janet enjoys
performing her work on occasion, both competitively and non-competitively.
The idea behind 'Jewel in the Attic' came to Janet whilst preparing
a project for her London School of Journalism, 'Writing for Children'
course in 1995. 'The Adventures of Tiger' is a more recent pursuit
evolving over the past two years since she has been involved with
and supported by 'The Mansfield and Ashfield Writer's Group' in
her present place of residence, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.
Her main ambitions are to learn to live with ME from which she
suffers and to continue to write and improve, Muse willing...
